Jacked up on Mountain Dew, Let's Rip!

Well, agility season has kicked off with a bang. With oh so few training sessions and no expectations for success (personal issue) we were headed to our first Agility Trial. I can't tell you how nervous I was having this furry firecracker all jacked up on Mountain Dew and just revving at the start line waiting for the release command. As expected the release command was about two seconds longer than she was ready to wait. Off to the races we went.......
Tunnelers and Touch & Go's were the two courses of choice for the two day event and as usual in any first trial the novice entries run last. When I say last I mean in total darkness at the end of the day. No worries with this, as the run in the dark was her best of the day. We finished the course with only 30 faults (darkness was our friend) and a snails pace of 4.09 YPS. Gabby tried to shave off a few seconds by vaulting off the peak of the down side dog walk contact but that only gave us the coveted 20 point penalty.
Well back to the drawing board to work on those problem areas. Of course that's what training sessions are for, right? Fix the issues found during the trial day runs and come back and do it all over again expecting a different conclusion. This sure sounds vaguely like the definition of insanity.

Working on the Bay...

When it's 110 degrees in the desert and you have some time to kill its "Road Trippin" time once again. How about a 12 hours drive up the left coast to San Francisco for some training on the Bay!!!! Yep, that's what we did this past June.... Jumped in the truck with Tim and Koda and headed to San Fran. Actually we stayed in Sonoma which wasn't too shabby and commuted to Treasure Island. Dog training at its finest with Michael Ellis on the bay. When time permitted we ventured to the south bay and worked some obedience in with Denise Fenzi. Thanks to both of you for making our summer trip so much fun. Gabby and Koda are so spoiled it's not funny.

It's Hot and time for the Mountain Retreat...

I was up in the woods running in the trees... It was wonderful and cool. I hope everyone is practicing their sport and moving along. I won't be competing until the fall season so watch out!!!!

Have fun and chase responsibly.

Life At One Year

Well here it is. One year from the womb. Wonderful feeling, 12 months is the new 9 weeks, I hear. Yes, thank you, I'm still crazy and busy as ever. With Schutzhund and Agility covering the basis of my schooling I'm looking soon to the world of competitive sports. Of course we all know I'll be spectacular, modesty is a curse.

The winter time has brought many travel days up north to the snow and many cold nights in front of the fireplace. I guess you may say I'm spoiled but I'm no bitch. At least not yet.

I look forward to blogging a bit more as time permits so stay tuned and share with me your own experiences in the world.
